What challenges are facing architects today when it comes to product specification? How are they tackling them? And what can manufacturers do to help? For its ‘Product Specification Report: Sources of Information’, Building Design surveyed over 300 architects to find out.

As part of the research, architects were asked which information sources they trusted most with 82% citing product certification. In terms of manufacturers’ technical information, 68% said they have near or full confidence in it. Marketing literature came bottom of the confidence ratings with only 13% of architects saying they have near or full confidence.

The Sectors section of our Directory includes our Marketing to Architects feature which looks at targeting the sector,
key media channels and events, and has access to our downloadable database of 1,200+ UK practices

The findings also revealed that most architects, 69%, would like manufacturers to do more to help them make informed specification decisions. When asked what would give them more confidence in the products that they specify, Some 87% said that independent testing would give them near, or total, confidence.

The above are just a few of the findings and more information, along with a link to download the full report, can be found on the Building Design website.
