….. understand what impact this massive change and disruption is having on architects and how this may, in turn, affect product manufacturers in their marketing and sales activities.

The subject group focused on those professionals mostly involved in product specification with architects (79%) and architectural technologists (9%) making up the majority of respondents. The research was carried out in March and April, and resulted in just over 300 unique responses were received.

Amongst the findings, the survey revealed that, in relation to the early-stage, looking for inspiration and ideas-type research, over 82% of respondents intend to use this time to do the same, or more, project research. When asked specifically about product research, over 81% expected to be doing the same or more, with, 24% expecting to do more than in the normal climate.

The questions covered a range of other topics including:

  • Whether they are still working or not
  • What they are working on (and which tasks they are spending more or less time on) 
  • Are they taking the results of product research and writing them into specification dicuments?
  • Where they are turning to find product information
  • The demand for online CPD & educational content
  • How they prefer to be contacted
  • What they like and don’t like about manufacturer websites
