Suggestion reported in The Times article ‘Trade show blow to UK’s small firms’
The TAP provides export support package for SMEs including grants of between £500 & £2,500 to subsidise the cost of exhibiting overseas.
For several decades the scheme, and its earlier incarnations, has supported hundreds of British construction businesses in developing their global sales by accessing international markets through exhibiting at major events such as Batimat, Mipim, The Big 5, Budma, Mosbuild and Bau as well as dozens of sector, or theme, -specific shows such as the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas, Light and Building Frankfurt in Frankfurt and Middle East Electricity in Dubai.
The Exporting from the UK section of the Construct UK Directory includes
– International Construction Exhibitions – UK Government Support for Exhibiting Overseas – Identifying Suitable Markets – Agent or Distributor – International Project Lead Sources
According to the article, “Ministers are planning to scrap a programme that helps small companies win overseas trade.
“The Department for International Trade has warned business groups that its Tradeshow Access Programme, which provides grants for business to exhibit at international trade shows, will be scrapped.
“In a letter to delivery partners seen by The Times, the department said it would work on “future arrangements for supporting businesses” but provided no detail…..”
