In recent research for their new report, entitled ‘How Architectural Practices Engage with CPD’, construction marketing specialists, Competitive Advantage, found that 78% of architects prefer to attend CPD seminars at their premises.

Additionally, the report’s authors demonstrate that a key aspect of getting your construction seminar selected by a practice is …..

….. engaging with the firm’s CPD coordinator.   In this context the research revealed that, in 24% of cases, this person was a practising architect, holding a variety of roles.   Some were very senior, such as directors and partners, others more junior, suggesting that while some practices treat this very seriously with a top person making the decision, others treat the job as a necessary evil.

In the other 76% of cases, the CPD coordinator was found to be in HR, office administration or may even be the receptionist.   However, the authors emphasise that “….just because they are not an architect does not mean they should be disregarded.   Our research showed that they have a very clear idea of the subjects the practice needs, and unlike architects, they often welcome approaches from manufacturers who have CPD seminars to offer.   These are important individuals.”

The full report has been produced to provide construction product manufacturers and suppliers with an insight into how seminars are selected by architects, the role of accreditation and the important aspects of CPD content and delivery.
