Construction marketing and research specialist, Competitive Advantage, are now working on the next tranche of research in its programme of Omnibus Surveys, providing the industry’s suppliers, manufacturers and service providers with the opportunity to ask one or more questions of their target decision makers.

For many manufacturers of building products, the UK house builder sector is extremely influential and important. Having shown strong growth in 2021, new build is expected to be worth £46.7 billion in 2022 (Hewes & Associates).

But the sector will be making significant changes to the way it designs and builds homes in response to new editions of Building Regulations Document F, L, O and S which came into effect on 15th June. Furthermore, the government’s drive towards Zero Carbon will see further changes in design and product selection in the coming years.

So, it is important to understand and engage with the Technical Managers and Directors within the house building sector who will be influencing product selection.

The Marketing to Contractors & Housebuilders feature (which is sponsored by South East Construction Expo) in the Sectors section of our Directory provides an overview of the sector, including
details of its various media channels and events, together with access to our downloadable database of those with responsibility for procurement at key firms.

The Housebuilders Omnibus Survey

The survey will provide an opportunity for building product manufacturers and suppliers to ask one or more questions of the target decision makers. Questions might cover how an element of design will change with the new regulations, provide an insight into brands used or answer other marketing questions. The answers can provide a valuable insight to inform business decision making and findings remain confidential to the individual subscriber, with each company receiving a personalised report containing just their research findings.

Key points:

  • Omnibus surveys are a quick, low-cost solution to inform you about construction markets and opinions – an alternative to a dedicated research project
  • Omnibus surveys are conducted to a set time-frame, giving answers in a relatively short timescale
  • You choose the question(s) you want to ask, and respondent categories, giving you answers to issues of importance to you
  • You can use this quick form of research to inform your strategy planning, or gauge your strategy progress

100 interviews with Technical Managers and Directors working for housebuilders will be undertaken. Half of the interviews will cover the top 10 housebuilders’ head and regional offices. The balance will be with the smaller national and regional house builders.
