The 4th edition of the Street Furniture & Lighting Market Report UK 2022-2026 has been published by AMA Research. The report represents an informed and up-to-date review of the UK market for Street Furniture & Lighting products.
The total street furniture market which is supplied to or influenced by local authorities – and are placed in public spaces or highways controlled by local authorities – is estimated to account for +75% of the total spend on street furniture. The local authority market is the largest sector in the market, both as a direct customer and as an influencer in specifying what products can be used even if the products are purchased by a contractor or a developer. The market is split between specifications used on new schemes where planning specifications require products to a particular specification, and products like waste bins, litter bins, etc. which has a replacement element in addition to new supply. Street lights account for an estimated 95% of public sector street lighting, with illuminated signs and bollards making up the remainder. Street lighting products include lamps, columns and ‘intelligent’ or ‘smart’ street lighting control systems. There are estimated to be around 500-600 companies supplying street furniture. Many companies specialise in only one or two products, while some supply the whole range. The share of the market taken by new projects is expected to increase, as more local authorities replace outdated lighting systems with LEDs and new housing developments are built that require street lighting
